It Was A FO BUT Now It's Not ......

I cast off the February Lady Sweater on Friday, gave it a light steam block & wore it to City Nits on Satruday but was not happy with how it looks ..... somehow I don't like the look on me & just can't figure out what was wrong.
I had enjoyed knitting this sweater & the construction is fabulous as it's all in 1 piece - the finishing was so quick, just sewing in the ends. The yarn, Dream In Color Classy, is so lovely & soft to knit with.

The sweater fitted me perfectly!

SO, WHAT'S THE PROBLEM ?

After some consultation with fellow knitters, we think we found the problem - it's the sleeves ! Although I intended to have 3/4 sleeves, somehow my measurement of 3/4 seems to fall short & therefore the sleeves seem to be sticking out of my body & just don't look right. I was so happy to be able to pin down the problem & so last night, I happily frogged the garter end of the sleeve & knitted more repeats of the lace pattern - it's so great that I was able to just pick up the stitches & continue knitting the sleeve - that's the advantage of a top down pattern. So now I am extending the sleeve by another 10cm so that it will be a proper 3/4 ! It will be a proper FO soon.

I am still loving this sweater & the lovely coconut buttons .....

By the way, I have new sock blockers ....

I made these blockers from plastic place mats that I just bought from IKEA when I visited the new super store on Thursday. It's only A$1.95 for a pack of 4 & I can make 4 pairs of sock blockers. I love these blockers as they are great when I am drying my handknit socks & keeping them in perfect shape.

how gorgeous. It's just beautiful. A shame you have to undo the sleeves a bit but it'll make the difference between wearing and not, won't it?

Love those sock blockers. I'm going to have to try that since I have'nt been able to convince my husband to make me more of the wooden ones!

Love that color! I'm glad you figured out the fit problem. Since the sleeves end up being a bit of a bell shape, I made mine full-length, which I like a lot better. I did the same number of lace repeats on the sleeves as I did on the body and it came out perfect. Finally got it to dry and put the clasps and ribbon accent on today. Now I just need to get someone to take a picture of me wearing it. :)
