Another Project Done - My Ribbed Wrap Jacket

At long last, I can now wear my latest project - a Jo Sharp design - the ribbed wrap jacket. Took me 3 weeks to knit it up & another 2 weeks of procrastination to sew them together. How I dreaded the sewing bit (as I never like needle work) - spent the whole afternoon just on the sewing - could have knitted a sock! Anyway, it's done & looked at how nice it is ........

I used Jo Sharp's Silkroad Tweed & DK Tweed & it is quite thick & very warm. Wore it last night to my knitting circle & everyone liked it - especially the contrasting collar which makes the jacket different. Well, I love it too & I am sure this jacket will be my constant companion this winter. Now off to another project.....

New Books

Reading this new book that I have just received from Amazon - KnitLit The Third : We Spin More Yarn by Linda Roghaar & Molly Wolf. It's really interesting to read & relate to the stories of other knitters. Glad to know that I am NOT ALONE & it's NORMAL to want to knit all the time. Definitely a good book to have for all knitters.
Also bought 3 other books (made a big dent on last month's budget) & I hope they are all worth the $$$$......
  • Wendy Knits - My Never-Ending Adventures in Yarn by Wendy Johnson
  • Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles by Cat Bordhi
  • Sweater Design in Plain English by Maggie Righetti

Will keep you knitting folks out there updated on these books as I read them - whenever I find the time in between knitting, of course!

Another new project

Isn't this pretty? I have just starting knitting this ribbed cardigan for a friend, Noreen. She bought the yarn, Jo Sharp's new yarn, Alpaca Kid Lustre in Elderberry (kind of apple green) & asked if I could knit it for her. The yarn is so soft & nice & Noreen is also such a nice lady, so I agreed. Did the tension square & now I am off .... it's really a nice yarn to knit with & not fluffy like mohair. I hope it will turn out well.

My 1st posting - a finished project!!

Just finished a pair of cabled socks - took about a week with some distractions from other WIPs. Actually have not knitted socks for some time n suddenly felt the urge to do so. But this sock is a little different from previous - short row shaping for turning of the heels - it actually knits up pretty fast this way - but... have to live with the little gaps on the heel - looks nice but is it practical??? The sock is a Debbie Bliss design n I used her yarn, Baby Cashmerino.

The sock is so soft n comfortable to wear - this is really revitalising my sock knitting interest n I may start on another pair. In fact went out 2 days ago n bought a ball of Online sock yarn....well who knows, you may be seeing another finished sock soon.........
