Still Knitting Along ....

Eversince the holidays, I am still trying to get back to routine & find time to knit but it's difficult as the girls are around & I get involved in their activities .... leaving little time & energy for knitting & so not many WIPs except for requests ..... just cast off a beret (from Interweave Winter 2006) for my niece who is going to London end of January ....

The beret was a quick knit in the round (just 2 days) & I used a ball & a little of Jo Sharp's Silkroad Aran Tweed & 5mm circulars - sorry for the bad pic as I can find a suitable model. Another request is a pair of socks for my Mum in Lana Grossa's cotton & since time is running out, I am knitting the socks plain with a rib cuff .....

I have finished 1 sock & almost to the heel of the 2nd - I am very pleased with this pair of socks as I managed to get the strips to match - I read in a blog (oops, forgot the name) that to get matching strips, just start knitting with the middle section of the yarn of a color & use the same color (also middle section) for the 2nd sock! That's it but there's some searching to be done for the 2nd sock to find the right color & some yarn to put aside but it's worth the trouble if you want matching stripes.

The only other WIP I have is Jo Sharp's Hourglass Cable Sweater (from Knit Issue 2) which I cast on while in Singapore - it's knitted in Jo Sharp's cotton & I have adapted the pattern to knit in the round .....

This is the front & back knitted in 1 piece & I have 40cm to go before the armhole shaping ... should be almost there, I think less than 10cm to go....

I can't wait to cast on another project but what will it be ???????

The socks look really great. I always pick a place to start and then keep the wool I cut off and match it for the second sock. The jumper is looking great and it grows more quickly in the round I think. What will you be knitting next?? I am just socks, socks, socks!!!

Ooh the excitement of being able to pick what to cast on next!! Love the socks, was amazed at Citiknits when I had a fondle of them how perfectly they are knitted up! You truly are a craft genius Anne :) Love the cables on the blue yarn, very elegant!
