UKO ???

Unidentified Knitting Object - that's right - can anyone tell what this is that I had knitted & all done in 3 days although it was a really big job - cast on 8 sts & increase on every 4th row to 200 sts & then knit for 25cm - it was the most out-of-shape item that I have ever knitted. BUT it was worth the effort as I present to you ......
.... the French Market Bag - some of you may have guess it right! That's the UKO that I knitted after being felted (with the help of Helen). Felting is really amazing & the bag is gorgeous - now I have a knitting bag that can carry quite a few projects at a time & it's nice & firm with a wide opening - I can knit a few of these bags & have them lying around as they make good decorative pieces too.

The pattern is from Knitty & is knitted in the round (obviously) & the only change I made was a longer body so that the bag is deeper. I used 2 balls of 100gms Bendigo Rustic knitted with a 5mm circular needle.

I mentioned that I have been on a sock yarn buying spree, so here's another skein of sock yarn that just arrived ....

It's Katt's hand dyed yarn, Death by Midnight - such a unique & a fabulous color that I can't resist & of course, it feels so soft too - have to start looking for a pattern. The wooden needles was a Christmas present from a friend who bought them in Tasmania when she was back there visiting her family - they are made from Tasmanian wood which I am sure will be lovely to knit with. That's not the end of my sock yarn purchase - there are 2 more packages on their way from Canada.....

I am so surprised at how much your bag changed after you felted it. You have the perfect knitting project bag. That sock yarn is so pretty, I look forward to seeing how it knits up!

The bag is stunning!! What a great project. Was that 2 x 400g balls of Rustic?? Just a single strand?? I think I might need to make one of these this year. Isn't Katt's wool lovely and the needles: there was a special segment on the Statewide 7-30 Report about the makers last year!! Happy sock knitting!!!

The bag is lovely and will be very handy. Knitting items to be felted has you wondering what on earth until you see the wonderful result.

A very Tasmanian post with Katts wool and those needles which I have noticed a small gallery down the road from me stocking. All good things come from Tassie ;)
