2 New Projects

Sorry for being so quiet the last few weeks but had been busy with school activities & of course, knitting - with 2 new projects on the needle ....

1st - the Lorelei Vest

from Yarn Play which is quite an interesting way of knitting a vest & it satisfy all the conditions that I was looking for - it's a vest, it's will be a quick knit & I could use my 2 skeins of merino/cashmere from the Knittery - so I immediately cast on - the vest is knitted sideways & then joined at the side seam, then picking up stitches from one end to start knitting the top. So I did a provisional cast-on so that I can do a 3-needle bind off for the side seam instead of sewing. Anyway, here's the progress so far - the front or back is finished & I just need to carry on & knit the other side ...

2nd - Mock Wave Cable Socks from Favorite SocksThis is an emergency project as I just realised that my best friend's birthday is at the end of the month & she had been wanting to knit a pair of socks & not got around to doing it - so I thought that I will knit her a pair to get her started - I am using Socks That Rock Sock Club Silkie yarn, Walking On The Wild Tide which I managed to buy from Helen who is a member of the club. The yarn is gorgeous, so soft & nice to knit with but it's quite splitty & thank goodness that I am using the sharp pointed Pony Pearls dpns. As my best friend has the same size feet, I was able to try on the 1st sock that I finished & it fitted perfectly - love the waves of the rib!

Just a quick update on the progress of my Alpine Lace ....

.... I have finished 14 repeats of the center panel & there's 23 repeats to go & then there's a 16 row border. I am enjoying knitting this lace - it's a good project to pick up & knit a few rows everyday & be able to take a break from the other projects.

I love your Alpine Lace! I like to knit a little on a lace project each day, too, so I don't lose my rhythm with it.

Your Silkie Socks look terrific in that pattern. I like the resulting striping and the pattern stands out nicely. Mine turned out okay, but your is an example of a superb yarn and pattern combination.
