I Just Can't Believe It .....

.... and I bet you can't believe it too - I actually sew.

I had my wisdom tooth extracted yesterday & was feeling a little sore & decided to work on a challenging project to take my mind off the pain - so I decided to make a dpn holder ( which I have been looking around to buy one). I took out my circular needle holder as a sample & then started working out the measurements, searched for some materials (not so nice ones, just in case I mess it up) & then put the pieces together .....

.... & after 2 attempts & 2 hours later , I had a dpn holder for all my dpns - I was so proud of myself as it turned out exactly what I wanted. The only problem was I didn't know how to put in a tie, so, I rolled it up & ....

.....tied it up with my daughter's scrunchie - it looks nice & I am really happy with it! So I can sew afterall & thanks to my faithful, old machine .....

.... as I don't have the confidence to use an electric sewing machine, I use this manual hand machine. I love it as I can turn the wheel slowly & make sure that the sewing is straight & everything is within my control. 20 years ago, I bought this antique machine (it was made in the 1920's) as I was into antique collecting & thought this machine will make a nice deocrative piece. Now it has been put into good use !

Although I did it, I don't think I will be sewing another one as it takes too much effort & concentration. Knitting is much easier & relaxing!

i love that machine .. it's gorgeous. Something really endearing about it being hand cranked. Hope the pain goes away quickly...I hate any and all dental work

good work, woman-of-many-talents! Love the old singer, that's the lovely thing about those, nearly 100 years down the track and they still work!!

You did a beautiful job on your dpn case!!! I am not a big fan of sewing, and I do have 1 dpn case with plans to make one. I have the fabric, and I am inspired by how pretty yours is.

Your Singer-machine is absolutely awesome! My Granny had a similar one and actually tried to teach me sewing on that when I was a kid, but me nutcase was more interested in knitting ;( I don't regret the knitting thing of course, but I do regret that I never properly learned sewing, especially when I see that gorgeous DPN holder that you made - it's beautiful!
