Can you imagine spending 2 nights & 2 days in this beautiful homestead in Toodyay, in the Avon Valley, 40km East North-East of Perth ? Can you imagine a group of 20+ knitters all sitting around, knitting away among the greenery overlooking the town ?
Yes, I can imagine all that as it's happening on May 16 as Helen & I have organised a knitting retreat for our knitting groups. So far, 20 knitters have signed up & we still have places for a few more.... We have put together an exciting program where there will be demonstrations on hand dyeing, blocking & finishing techniques & even a visit to an alpaca farm. We also plan 2 KALs so that knitters can work on different projects - the River Avon Vest & the Monkey or Crazy Monkey Socks for those who have not knitted socks before.
So for the past couple of months, Helen & I have been busy with all the organising actitivites including looking for specially dyed yarn for the 2 projects - once we have decided on the choice of yarn, I have been knitting like crazy.
Here's a little sneak preview .....
..... the toe-up Monkey sock.
..... the River Avon Vest (the colorway of the yarn reminds me of River Avon which runs through the valley) which will be knitted in the round with no seaming at all.
I will have to finish these 2 projects before the retreat & also finish writing all the instructions - busy, busy, busy & thank goodness it's the start of the school holidays & so I will have more knitting time .......

I love those monkey socks. What is the yarn you are using? Since I can't make it to Avon Valley, I was wondering if you could share that info with me. :-)
Thanks
Oh wow, wish I could join you all on that retreat, it sounds wonderful, and a lovely place. I love monkey socks, still need to try a pair with just knit stitches :)
They both look so nice in those colors. I havent seen the Avon vest either, is it a pattern you have created just for the retreat.
The toe up Monkeys look great. I just wish I was in a different hemisphere and could join in on the retreat!
I wish I lived closer or was free on the 16th I'd love to join.
Saw on Ravelry that today is your birthday. Happy, Happy Birthday to you!!! Can't you hear me singing? Hope you had a wonderful day!!
