This is really amazing - when I read the the article "An Eye For Design" in Jo Sharp's Knit 3 magazine, I was impressed with the design & the time that it takes to knit it - 28 hours - knit it this week & wear it the next week! Wow !
So when Helen told me that she will love to knit the "Quick Knit Jacket", I offered to knit it for her as I wanted to test the pattern & check if it's really a "quick knit"! I didn't believe it when I finished the body (front & back knitted in 1 piece) in 5 nights - about 14 hours of knitting! Then I knitted the sleeves (2 together) & that took 4 nights - another 10 hours of knitting. I seam the sleeves yesterday & now I have a jacket in 10 days (24 hours of knitting) all ready to wear!
Isn't this wonderful - this is the 1st time in my knitting life that a jacket is knitted in 10 days - in fact, the knitting was going so quickly that I can't wait to finish it.
This pattern is designed by Leonie Ball from Wool Baa in Melbourne who designed this jacket for knitters who don't have the time or inclination to spend a long time knitting a garment. In addition, the design is simple (with little shaping) & yet stylist. 300 knitters have completed this project in an average of 28 hours! You really have to knit one of these!
Sorry for all the details as I am sure all of you are dying to see this little miracle, so here it is ......
This jacket is knitted in Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed in the color Resonant & I used 12 balls of yarn as it was knitted with 2 strands together in reverse stocking stitch with 2 rows of lace edging. Isn't it lovely .....
I will be meeting Helen on Tuesday to hand over this jacket & I am sure she will be warm this winter .....

What a gorgeous colour and it looks really great too!! Lots more than 24 hours worth!! Lucky Helen!!!
haha! I've been googling all afternoon to try and find examples of this knit up, and fancy that I've stumbled across it on your blog! Someone suggested it as a quick knit for my sis's birthday, and I think it will be perfect! i'm so glad to see your version of it Ann, it's just lovely! The only thing I have to decide now is what colour to do it in.. I've got both 'autumn' or 'boheme' JS DK Tweed in the stash... hmm decisions decisions ;)
