My 1st Toe-Up Sock

It's done - I finished knitting my 1st toe-up sock & even added a pattern on the leg. Oh! I am so happy with it & it was so easy knitting this sock as the short row shaping is the same for the toe & the heel. The most fabulous thing is that I can keep trying on the sock as I go & see it taking shape. I really......love knitting this sock & I am sure there will be more to come. Alright, here's the sock...... Isn't the fan & feather design on the leg lovely? The 4 rows of garter stitch really ended the sock off nicely. This sock is so soft & such a perfect fit...I am really happy!!!! Thanks again Wendy for this great pattern.
Tonight, I am casting on the 2nd sock.....& it should be a breeze!

Looking Good...

Isn't this looking good? After 2 nights of knitting, here's where I am - just a couple of cms to the heel & then..... Now I understand the addiction of knitting socks plus the excitement of seeing the colors of this sock yarn... It was so hard to put down & go to bed, just wanted to knit 1 more row... Also using brand new Addi bamboo needles & they are so nice & smooth to knit with. Thanks again, Wendy for this Toe-Up pattern which is great as I can keep trying on the sock as I go...Now I have to buy another ball of sock yarn for my next pair of socks & maybe more as my 2 girls want a pair too!

Ole Lara!

Ole!!!! Another project completed - LARA - from Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk book. It was knitted with Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran & it has turned out beautiful. The pattern was really easy as it was knitted in 1 piece starting from the left sleeve & ending off with the right sleeve. But Lara will be making it's way to Singapore as it's a birthday present for my niece. Sharon travels quite a bit for her work & I hope Lara will keep her warm when she's away from home. Here's a pic of Lara modelled by my daughter, Lynette & it fits her perfectly.....

Last night, I started on Wendy's Toe-Up Sock pattern & worked thro' the toe shaping - it's was really amazing how the toe shapes up with the short row shaping. However had a little problem knitting up the wrapped stitches as they were really tight - there must be a simpler way of doing so. Anyway, I like the shape of the toe & no grafting to be done - it's really clever of Wendy to come up with this. Will continue with the foot & then the heel.....

More Socks ???

Hooray!!! Finished the 2nd sock over the weekend & here they are - a pair of picot edge socks ....

Well, let's hope Margaret is impressed with them & will want to buy them - if not, then I will have a spare pair of socks which are too big for my feet. Then I may have to offer it up for sale to all you knitters!
Anyway, still can't find that extra-ordinary project, so planning to knit another pair of socks (this time for myself) from the book, Wendy Knits. Wendy has a Generic Toe-Up Socks pattern & that should be an interesting project as I have not knitted a sock from the toe. Will use the ball of Online Supersocke 100 yarn - it's a mix of wool and cotton in blue and brown tones. Will have to cast on soon......

1 Sock.....Another on the way

Have not been blogging for a while - too busy knitting & contemplating if I should cast on another project. With 3 projects in progress, getting a little tired & want some excitement - an extra-ordinary knit (hmm...what will it be?????) Anyway, here's an update of what's happening in my knitting life.
The WWKIP event on June 10 in Cafe Denada in Brentwood was good - there were 8 of us knitting & crocheting in the cafe over lattes & bickies...what a life but it was good only for 3 hours. All of us enjoyed it so much that we decided to do it on a regular basis - every 2nd Saturday of the month, we will meet in a cafe to knit...can't wait for next month (July 8).
Thought I should show a pic of my finished sock....

The pattern is from Jo Sharp's latest book, Knit Issue 1. It is knitted in her new yarn, Alpaca Silk Georgette - a lovely & soft yarn, which is just right for socks. Knitted the sock in ladies' medium size as Margaret in my knitting circle wanted to buy them after I have finished. Well, if that happens, that will be my first sale of a pair of socks. Cast on the 2nd sock & working on the heel flap .... see below at my work in progress.

Hope to finish off the 2nd sock by this weekend so that I can cast on another project. Keep in tune.....

World Wide KIP

Have not been knitting very much these few days - just too much social activities over the long weekend & had been catching up on sleep. But managed to finish 1 sock & will have to cast on the next one.
Anyway, just want to keep all interested knitters in Perth updated on the next BIG KNITTING EVENT - my knitting circle is celebrating the World Wide Knitting In Public Day on June 10 at Rocs Cafe, Central Avenue, Rossmoyne from 2pm to 5pm. All of you are welcome to join us on this special event. If you want to know more of the history of WWKIP, please check my link!

My New KIP Bag

Isn't this a nice little bag to make sure that my work in progress is clean & tidy. Lynette (my eldest daughter) cross-stitched & made a little drawstring bag for one of my many knitting projects - the Picot Edge sock. It's also very handy to carry around & fits nicely in any of my bags. Thank you, Lynette for the nice thought!
Someone had posted a comment asking to see the green ribbed cardigan that I am knitting, so here it is.......

...... the back of the cardigan. I really enjoy knitting with this soft & smooth yarn & the color is really refreshing (altho' green is not my color). Maybe after I have finished with this cardigan, I may knit something for myself with this lovely yarn....mm have to start going thro' my stash of patterns but I have so many other projects in mind - as usual so little time but so much to KNIT!
